Description:

Prototype wall clock created for Ringo Starr by Tian Harlan, a German designer/artist known for his "Chromachron" clock and watch concept. The clock, 10 3/4" x 10 3/4", bears a steel outer frame with lucite covering the innovative moving dial at center. The clockwork, operated by a battery, is loosely fitted to the back of the frame. The frame bears Harlan's frame engraved on the front, with a "Chromachron" label on verso. Accompanied by a 2011 signed letter of provenance from NANCY LEE ANDREWS (b. 1947), 1947) a former international model turned photographer who was engaged to Ringo Starr for six years in the 1970's. She states that the clock: "...was purchased by Ringo Starr with the intention of possibly using it for gifts. Ringo had the star painted on the clock. To my knowledge it is the only one painted with a star. Originally conceived as the Colour-Time clock sculpture for the 1972 Olympic Games...Ringo loved the cutting edge combination of technology and art...". Unknown if clock is operational, but movement easily replaceable. Very good. The clock is advertised as an "anti-stress" device as it will never show you the exact time. The dial consists of twelve colorful triangles covered with a rotating disc. Each color is equal to one hour so once the disc covers half of two colors the time will be in the middle of those two hour colors.
