Description:

BATTLE OF THE BULGE RECOVERED FIGHTING KNIFE
A fantastic World War II battle relic, an Imperial US M3 trench knife, marked, "US M3 Imperial" on the cross-guard. Reportedly found by an amateur historian in Tavigny, 9km north of Bastogne, this blade likely saw action during the Battle of the Bulge. The knife itself is in remarkably good condition, with no rust and completely intact hilt wrapping. The green fiberglass scabbard is a US M8, with a fully intact belt clip, to include complete washers and rivets. The scabbard has a crack at bottom left edge, and the tip has been ripped where the eye for leg strap used to be. A person, presumably the soldier who carried it, has carved a "J" into the side. From the personal collection of World War II and Civil War historian Michael Miner. Miner's thirty-year collection was built through an extensive system of contacts he developed with artifact hunters and diggers in Europe and the Far East, and he maintained careful records of the items he amassed. A fine relic!
