(Battle Of Bunker Hill) One of the first British account of the Battle of Bunker Hill, as printed in the Gentleman's Magazine, London 30pp.8vo., Aug. 1775 The story includes a copy of gage's letter to the Earl of Dartmouth. In part: ...alarm was given at break of day. Rebels had broke ground, and were raising a battery... attack began by a sharp cannonade... heavy fire from the vast number of the rebels. . Brigadier pursued his point, and carried the redoubt. Almost five pages of excellent detail from several perspectives, with regiments and generals mentioned by name, a list of the dead, etc. Also appearing in the issue are Rules and Regulations for the Massachusetts Army... by Order of Congress , signed in type by John Hancock.
