Description:

(BATTLE OF BRITAIN)
CHRISTOPHER ‘BUNNY' CURRANT (1911-2006) British fighter pilot who participated in the Battle of Britain; credited with at least 15 ‘kills'. Fine content, war-date partial D.S. 1p. oblong 8vo.,[n.p., n.d.]. The bottom portion of a combat report signed by Currant as part of the 605th Squadron, in part: ‘…I was Red 1 leading the Squadron. We climbed to 28500 ft and whilst patrolling at this height I was informed…of an enemy aircraft approaching from the S.E…Just before we got in range the enemy saw us and turned sharp left and split up…I attached the leader of the vic with a diving beam - full deflection and a 5-sec. burst at 200yds…Another Me.109 came into my sights and I gave a full deflection beam attack at 200yds. I notice the D.W. bullets hitting and bits flew off the enemy aircraft and this also rolled over and dived straight down…Then I had to take violent evasive action as Me.109's were behind and above…Before I could get into attacking position, the enemy aircraft dived away and I could not catch it in the dive…'. Signed at conclusion, and countersigned by JOHN A. MILNE (1915-2007), Canadian fighter pilot who also participated in the Battle of Britain. Very good.
