Lot 1480
1480. PAUL-ALBERT BARTHOLOME (1848 - 1928) French painter sculptor, best remembered for his funerary art. Rare A.L.S. "Bartholome", 1p. 8vo., Paris, June 19, 1904, penned in bright purple ink on the verso of a postcard bearing an image of Rodin on verso, in French to Fritz Westendorp. In part: "... Now you have remembered the circle of artists which I had invited you one evening...Perhaps you have addressed to M. Schonderer (who signs his work under the name of Gunther) and you have given me the great pleasure in sending to me. It is for my friend Degas...I thank you...". Degas was a longtime friend of Bartholome, and apparently was instrumental in convincing him to give up painting for sculptor, for which is now best known. Very good condition. $300 - 400
