Description:

BALDUR VON SCHIRACH
(1907 - 1974) Nazi leader of the Hitler Youth and Gauleiter of Vienna, sentenced at Nuremburg to twenty years for war crimes. Excellent content A.L.S. "Baldur" in English, 8pp. 8vo., [n.p.], Dec. 2, 1969, to an American correspondent, largely on the subject of the ongoing war in Vietnam. In small part: "... Now my answer to the war in Vietnam. American newspapers, quoted every day on the front page over here caused a lot of damage. The American image is being totally destroyed (TV is a fellow culprit). The anti-Vietnam demonstrations are described and pictured, the other side, probably the majority is never mentioned. My opinion - you asked for it: end that war as soon as you can. At the moment (and the moment might last long) you can not. Not for reasons of honor and prestige etc. but for the simple reason that the Americans are responsible for all that follows their withdrawal. Many men, women, children are daily victims of the Vietnam War but at least a million are going to be murdered - remember what happened in India! - if the U.S. government under the pressure of the so-called public opinion which at the present is manipulated, suddenly take the boys home and sacrifice all Vietnamese that fled from the north and all V. that fought on your side. All papers say this is a dirty war and I say all wars in the past and present and in the future are dirty wars. But this statement can not change the fact that common reason says if you are incapable to win the war, you certainly are capable of not losing it... Nobody really knows why this war was necessary, no G.I. can say what he is fighting for, but to go home and admit to the world thereby it was all a mistake, well that I would call unconditional surrender to the gangsters that proclaim themselves ''the public opinion''..." Much more good content besides. Schirach signs at the conclusion in blue ink. Shows staple holes at top left, else very good.
