Description:

(1907 - 1974) Nazi leader of the Hitler Youth and Gauleiter of Vienna, sentenced at Nuremberg to twenty years for war crimes. Fine content war-date T.Ms.S. with initials “BVS” and holograph postscript, 4pp. large 4to., [n.p., n.d., likely Berlin ca. 1942], in German. Headed “For Political Intelligence Confidential”, von Schirach sets forth his view in his opinion treatise: “Another Word on the Failure of Hess”. He writes, in ver small part: “…The shock that griped the German people is long past. We hardly speak about that sick person. They quickly started to make jokes about him…[his] character is flawed…So as he flew alone to Scotland, so it was alone that he carried out his idea…Mr. Churchill’s first radio message mentioned a division within the NSDAP…Hess had fixed ideas and delusions…The German people weathered the failure…They did not let the incident of one man deter them from ultimate victory…In our government there are only people who lean towards creativity and genius…the fall of one standard bearer is immediately filled by another comrade…The single parachuting over Scotland did not influence the war, but ten thousand over Crete…Churchill…is a man who will not compromise; only in the very last hour will he capitulate… Churchill views Hess…as a Trojan Horse…One compares the Hess incident with the revolt of Gregor Strasser…A few months after the Strasser crisis…the Fuhrer took over in full force…Destiny was cautious of Adolf Hitler. It holds a protective hand over him and his works. He will complete it…” At bottom, von Schirach pens a holograph initialed note in which he forbids publication of his essay within the intelligence service or in any other forum. Fine condition.
