"Ayn Rand" on her The Objectivist Inc. letterhead, 1p. 4to., New York, Sep. 25, 1968, to NBI Communications, Inc., the firm established by Rand and her lover Nathaniel Branden, essentially severing her last ties to Branden and his organization. Some background: in 1950 Rand and Branden first met, and their relationship grew from that of teacher and student to the two becoming partners and lovers. In 1968 their relationship came to an abrupt end, with Rand terminating all ties to Branden and his organization. Our letter, written just a month after their break-up, is quite cold in tone. In part: "...Please be advised that pursuant to our contracts concerning the manufacture and sale on phonograph records of the recordings of my various lectures and articles, since Nathaniel Branden appears no longer to be the owner of the corporation, the contracts are void and all rights therein revert to me...please be advised that your company is not authorized to make any more phonograph records...".
