Large group of documents and relics related to the service and postwar life of Walter Waskell, includes: unusual partly-printed D.S., 1p. 4to., Vienna, Nov. 8, 1943, an award certificate simultaneously granting Waskul the Iron Cross, First and Second Classes. Signed at the conclusion in black ink by the commanding general of "Luftgau XVII", STEFAN FROHLICH (1889-1978). Shows folds, some toning and wear to the edges, else very good. WITH: partly-printed D.S., 1p. 8vo., Vienna, April 12, 1943, and award certificate granting Waskul the Wound Badge in Silver. Signed at the conclusion in black ink by a medical official. Shows some toning overall, else very good. WITH: Waskul's alloy "erkennungsmarke" ("identification tag"), 2 1/2" x 2", giving his unit designation "20. E./L.N. 17", and his personnel number "887". WITH: a number of additional documents, includes; four Hitler Youth document books issued to Waskul, including two "Leistungsbuchs" ("performance books") and two "Schiessbuchs" ("shooting books"); two military hospital identification cards; three postwar identification cards issued under the Allied occupation government, including two identity cards and a travel permit; and two sports record books, one kept during his Hitler youth service and the other during his military service; and two certificates for postwar civic awards. Sixteen pieces overall, worthy of further research.
