Autographs William T. Sherman. Good content A.L.S. 1p, 8vo., [n.p] Oct. 11 1881. Sherman mentions some of his old associates, in part: "..Mr. Manning was an old Louisiana Friend of mine...I am waiting for Gen'l Kilpatricks body from Chile to be buried at Washington Yet if I can be of any use in ordering about Manning I will show the responsibility..." Union Major General Hugh Judson Kilpatrick (1836- 1881) served his old friend Sherman well as a cavalry leader of raids during Shermans March to the Sea. Thomas C. Manning 1825-1887 headed the Louisiana Bar and was a member of the Secession Convention. Fine, matted and framed.
