[ Autographs ] WILLIAM M. "BILL" TILGHMAN (1854 - 1924) Western lawman who served as City Marshall in Dodge City, deputy sheriff under Bat Masterson and later as a U.S. Marshall teamed-up with Chris Madsen and Heck Thomas to pursue the Doolin Gang and bring law to the town of Perry. Rare partly-printed D.S. "Wm Tilghman" as Deputy Marshal, 1p. 4to., Guthrie, OK, Nov. 15, 1907, an "Affidavit of Field Deputy to Voucher" for expenses in the amount of E13.80 incurred during the period of Oct. 1 through Nov. 15, 1907, boldly signed by Tilghman at bottom. Folds and horizontal tears at edges, and a small hole at top right, else very good. Tilghman is uncommon in any form.
