[ Autographs ] William Ellery 1727-1820 Signer of the Declaration of Independence. Ellery was a prominent Rhode Island lawyer who represented the state in the Continental Congress and in the proceedings leading to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. A.L.S. 2pp. 8vo,, Newport, Aug. 1, 1807 to Benjamin Bourne. A very involved and detailed letter concerning the administration of an estate. Ellery had advised that that a contested house be removed from an estate and here claims it was not his intention to direct the administrator and further outlines several points in the case which require further attention. With transcript, fine condition.
