[ Autographs ] WILLIAM ELLERY (1727 - 1820) Signer of the Declarationof Independence. Ellery was a prominent Rhode Island lawyer who represented the state in the Continental Congress and in the proceedings leading the signing of the Declaration of Independence. A.D.S. "William Ellery" on verso, 1pp. legal folio, [n.p.], 1773, an accounting of the estate of Bartholemew Phillips with particular concern given charges in relation to an indentured servant. In part: "..To the Service of William Mingo, who was my Apprentice, from Nov. 28th 1770 to March 28th 1773 (when he was free)...[I] was to give him a Suit of Cloathes at the expiration..." Near fine.
