[ Autographs ] VICTORIA WOODHULL MARTIN (1838 - 1927) American reformer and suffragist who advocated the legalization of prostitution, dress reform, and a uniform moral code, and ran for President on the "Equal Rights" ballot. A.L.S. "Victoria Woodhull Martin" 4pp. 8vo., London, Dec. 4, 1895 on Masonic letterhead to Alic Ives, in part: "...With reference to your article on the `Domestic Purse String,' I regret to say that we cannot make use of it in the Humanitarian....it would be a grave breach of editorial etiquette for one leading review to copy from another...your article has already been read by many,. I sincerely hope we may have the pleasure of seeing you when you come to London again...". Lightly toned, folds, otherwise boldly signed and good.
