[ Autographs ] VICTORIA A.L.S. signed in the text "the Queen" on mourning stationery, 4pp., 8vo., Balmoral, Sept. 29, 1872 apparently thanking a minister "...for the beautiful and comforting sermon & prayers he gave us today...has managed so entirely with the Queen's feeling and on the present rec'd a disturbing accusation. She truly feels that she `ought to rejoice'. It is for them on [illeg] the fighting & struggling & alas! So often living as if there was no otherWorld, that we ought to [illeg.] pray. Her beloved Sister passed away in Sleep. Having spoken so kindly of her The Queen desired for [name illeg.] perusal the translations of two letters from the Empress Queenof Germany, this Queen very kind friend & [illeg] of the...Lady Aug. Stanley who writes the Queen has been at [illeg.] service...May the Queen's...have a copy of this fine & comforting sermon..." A few marginal tape stains, otherwise very good.
