[ Autographs ] Union Soldier's Letter Union soldier's letter, 4pp. 4to., Huntsville, Aug. 20, 1862, in pencil. James Kiley writes a friend, in part: '...Genl Buell will make an attack on Chattanooga soon... he has some 600 miles of rail road to protect... if he [Gen. John Pope] suffers a defeat it will be a total one... he is after Jackson now... we drew up a petition seventy of the troops asking him[a captain] to resign. he read it and th rew it the fire... Glorious news ...Breckinridge driven back & wounded, Arkansas ram blown up ...ten guerrillas were brought in... a preacher one of them. I hope theywill be hung..."
