Shultze writes his sister.- ''..I suppose you would like to know how I celebrated the fourth... at night we had fireworks in the way of a few shells which the Johnnies sent us. On the third we thought we would have some hot work on the 4th. There was a report that we were going to blow up 6 or 7 rebel forts which we had undermined, but nothing of the kind transpired...'
