[ Autographs ] Union Soldier's Letter Union soldier's letter, 4pp. 4to., Camp Palmer, Va., Sep. 3, 1862 0 H. Palmer of the 108th N.Y. Vols. writes his wife: "'.. marched up to the rifle pits near Fort deKalb and formed in line of battle... we are under arms constantly.. I have no idea that the Rebels are fools enough to attempt to reach Washington... Charley Pernes... has a lame knee caused by being hit by a piece of shell in the light near Centreville... they say McClellan did not go to the aid of Pope when the enemy is then dancingat the very gates of Washington this feeling would subside... the partisans of our general would rejoice at the defeat of another...' More good content. Dampstained, with chipping at bottom near text.
