[ Autographs ] Union Soldier's Letter Union soldier's letter, 4pp. 8vo., Boston, Apr. 23, 1864 Lyman Nichols of the lst U.S. Artillery writes his sister, in part: '...There was two soldiers shot to death.They were both young fellows about 20 years old. The Father & Mother and Brother and Sister of one of the soldiers was there in attendance ... the parents felt awful, naturally... the charges against the soldiers were that they were supposed to have taken town and state bounties, but it was not proved... they were might rough on them for that offense... [One officer stated] he had 'been down to the Circus at Fort Warren'. he is a Son of a B - h...'Very good.
