[they] retreated four times... we think we killed and wounded about 350 We lost four men, two badly wounded... They kill everything they come across and some they killed and cut a piece off and the rest they letlay... we rushed on them double quick... we made it roar for a while from ten til twelve... Ic. S.A. Gen] Zollicoffer said that he did notmind the old cat but her kits for they are so cross..." The Union Kentucky campaign feared a Confederate onslaught and Sherman soon begged for additional men. some toning and a tiny hole in text.
