Good content A.L.S. 4pp. 8vo., Governor's Island, N.Y., Dec. 8, 1907 to a correspondent who wished toobtain information about the various residences of his father, UlyssesS. Grant. "...my father moved bout so often from one house o another that there was no particular house which could be designated as his family homestead. I have heard him say that he had lived longer in theWhite House...than in any other one of his homes...My father was born at Point-Peasant, Ohio and during his childhood went to Georgetown, Ohio. From there he went West Point, after his graduation he was stationed at Jefferson Barracks & from there he went to the Mexican war. After the War he was stationed at Ft. Brady, Michigan, then at Ft Wayne, Detroit, then Sackets Harbor, N.Y. then California. In 1854 heresigned & lived in St. Louis...He owned a handsome house in New York No. 3 East 66th St. - at the time of his death..." Fine condition.
