[ Autographs ] TITANIC SINKING NEWSPAPER Exceptionally rare and desirable newspaper, The Evening Sun, New York, Apr. 18, 1912 giving a good deal of front page coverage to the sinking of the Titanic, the ordeal of the survivors, and the anticipated arrival of the Carpathia,the vessel which rescued those lucky enough to escape the doomed liner The headline reads: "FOG MAY DELAY ARRIVAL OF RESCUER CARPATHIA; CONGRESS COMMITTEE COMING HERE TO BOARD LINER...Rescue Ship is Believed to Have Many Nearly Insane Among Survivors...Cunarder's Operator Asks to be Let Alone...Much Severe Suffering From Exposure..." and so on. The paper also pictures the cruiser Chester, sent by the President to meet the Carpathia en route. Paper is chipped at margins and split at vertical fold half-way down front page, one interior chip in text, brittle overall.
