[ Autographs ] Thomas Hancock 1703-1764 American clergyman and merchant and uncle of the Signer, he funded was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives and Council. L.S. 1p. 8vo., Boston, July 8, 1763 in which Hancock discusses the purchase of lumber and his finances, adding: "...Capt. North is Dead, we shall take some & get such Officers appointed, as shall best serve the Interest of the Government, Peace & good Order... speak to Dr. Gardner about him..."
