[ Autographs ] SLAVE CHILDREN PHOTOGRAPHS A rather unusual pair of carte-de-visite photographs of a pair of black children said to be slaves. The first image, entitled "As We Found Them", shows the children depicted in rags, while the second image, captioned "As They Are Now", shows the children in the same studio, now in fine normal attire. Neither image has a backstamp. While these children may have indeed been slaves, it is possible that the accounts of how they came to be photographed were embellished, as the captions on the two cards give somewhat contradictory information concerning the children's background. Minor condition faults, but overall both images are very good.
