[ Autographs ] SLAVE CHILD PHOTOGRAPH Uncommon carte-de-visite image of a young slave child, "Fannie Virginia Cassopia Lawrence", depicting the young girl in what appears to be a nightgown, kneeling in prayer on a chair, with backstamp by R.S. Lamater of Hartford, Ct. The inscription on the recto states that the girl was five years old, and liberated in Virginia. The card stock has been trimmed at the bottom away from the image area, but the image itself is quite clean, very good to fine.
