[ Autographs ] Seminoles In The C.S.A. Rare A.L.S. 1p. 4to., "Office Seminole Agency, Fort Washita", June 9,1865 from C.S.A. Seminole Agent J. S. Murrow to Col. C. B. Johnson, Seminole Contractor. Good content: '...I am instructed by Genl [Samuel] Cooper to write you to know whether you propose continuing the contract or not. The Chief - Jumper had an interview this evening with the Genl & told him the Seminoles were suffering [underlined]. Genl Cooper told Jumper that Mr. Guines pledged to him a few days since that the contract would becontinued without interruption... it is a matter of great importance to the Seminoles..." The Confederacy had "contracts" with the Seminole to fight the federals. Chief Jumper actually attained the rank of Colonel and fought in the Oklahoma Territory. It would be another two weeks before the last large Confederate force surrendered interestingly in the Oklahoma Territory. One ink-eroded word at top, otherwise very good.
