[ Autographs ] SAMUEL HUNTINGTON (1731 - 1796) Signer of the Declaration of Independence, president of the Continental Congress, and Governor of Connecticut. Partly-printed D.S. "Saml Huntington President" as President of the Continental Congress, 1p. oblong 4to., Philadelphia Apr. 4, 1780, a military commission appointing Nathaniel Donnel as a "...Captain in the third Battalion of Artillery..." Also signed by BEN STODDERT as Secretary of the Board of War. Usual folds, one of which only slightly affects "u" in "Huntington" otherwise very good condition with intact paper seal. Nathaniel Donnell was serving at West Point under Col. John Crane.
