[ Autographs ] SAM HOUSTON (1793 - 1863) American soldier and politician, defeated Santa Anna at San Jacinto and became first president of the Republic of Texas. Attractive partly-printed D.S. bearing a huge, very bold signature "Sam Houston", 1p. folio, Nashville, June 13, 1828, in which Houston, as Governor of Tennessee, grants a fifty-acre parcel of land to one David Pinkerton. Light, eventoning, folds with only three pinholes a t fold junctions, overall better condition than is usually found and certainly suitable for display.
