[ Autographs ] Sam Adams 1722-1803 Signer of the Declaration of Independence, an American Revolutionary politician who organized opposition to the Stamp Act and was a leader in the agitation that led to Boston Tea Party. Partly-printed D.S. "Samuel Adams' as Governor of Massachusetts, 1p. folio, Boston, May 3, 1796, an appointment of Daniel Ross to serve as "Lieutenant of a Company in the Second regiment" of the state militia. Boldly signed by Adams beneath embossed seal, co-signed by John Avery at bottom. Vertical split at center and for three inches along horizontal fold, repaired with archival tape on verso, otherwise very good.
