Morris was instrumental in the financing of Washington's armies, and later financially ruined through his speculation in western lands. I shall this day deliver to Messrs. Mordecai Lewis Billspayable in London for [British pounds] 1,588.9.5... I wish you could charter a vessel to carry off the tob[acc]o of your purchase, Mr. Donnell's ship will be long in fitting out... Carey & Tilgman will beConstant purchasers, but as to the news from France, those that put much reliance in it may have cause to regret..." Slight show through on a few lines with three or four letters showing a touch of erosion,as many of Morris' letters do, otherwise very good.
