[ Autographs ] ROBERT HOWE (1732 - 1796) Continental general who commanded West Point and sat on the board of officers that recommended the execution of John Andre. Rare A.L.S. as Commander of West Point, 1p. small 4to., "H. Quarters", Apr. 28, 1780 to "Captain Donnell, Commander of Artillery, West Point". In full: "Sir, Had no officer arrived I should with the greatest pleasure have consented to the absence of Lieut. Benjamin, upon an occasion so interesting to my Brother officers, and to which I heartily wish the greatest Success." Very light soiling, otherwise very good to fine. E2,000-3,000 "...
