The newly-elected Senator writes to Senator Harrison Williams, a ranking member of the Committee on Labor and Public Welfare, regarding the appointment of three Senatorial committees. In part: "...I understand the difficulty of meeting the requests of all of the Senators, and particularly thosewho have no seniority. However, in accordance with custom, I have indicated to the Majority Leader the areas which would be of interest to me and to the state I represent. 1. Foreign Relations 2. Labor and Public Welfare 3. Interstate and Foreign Commerce...". With a holograph postscript: "My best wishes to you Bob." A fine Kennedy piece, written just one month after his election.
