[ Autographs ] REVOLUTIONARY WAR ADDRESS TO THE TROOPS An interestingwar-dated A.D.1p. folio, "Headquarters Camp Before New Port", Aug. 1778, a handwritten address to The Boston Independent Company, reading in part: "...General Green...the Boston Independent Company Commandedby Colonel Hickburn, having remained on the ground much longer than was at first expected...The General dismisses them with his thanks fortheir soldier-like conduct and their faithful service - Jerimiah Childs, an assistant Commissary having conducted himself in such a manner as given universal, dissatisfaction to the Army...the General suspends him from the service and orders him to quit the Armies immediately...".In the bottom margin the paper wa apparently reused, as there are preliminary notes regarding: "...a return of our killed ,wounded and missing in...the action of Ye. 29th instant...", and othersimilar notes appear on the verso. Soiling as one would expect, good to very good.
