[ Autographs ] PHILIP SCHUYLER (1733 - 1804) American Revolution major general commanding the Northern Department, member of the Continental Congress and one of the first senators from New York. A.L.S. "Ph. Schuyler" 2pp. 8vo., Albany, Sept. 15, 1798, to Nicholas Low asking him to make travel arrangements for his daughter, the wife of Alexander Hamilton, whom he fears has fallen ill. In part: "...Last night's mail brought me two letters from my daughter Mrs. Hamilton announcing that her husband was pronounced by his Physician to be out of danger -- but that she felt the symptoms of the disease -- my anxiety is extreme. My daughter has informed me that the children havebeen removed, and that she would send them to New York as on Tuesday last to be forwarded to me -- If they are still there pray be so good as to hire the calling of a stoop for them...lest you should be absentI have written a similar letter to Mr. James Cochran, who will assist in forwarding the children to this place. I thank you for the arrangement which you have made with Mr. Worth, and would have acknowledged the receipt of your lines by last part, but was so much indisposed that I could not hold the pen...". With the usual folds, and a seal tear from opening not affecting the text, otherwise very good.
