[ Autographs ] Nelson A. Miles 1839-1925 Union major general who fought through the entire course of the war, guarded Jefferson Davis after his capture, and gained greater fame as an Indian fighter and captor of Geronimo. T.L.S. on Headquarters of the Army letterhead, 1p 8vo., Washington, June 23, 1898 to a lady. Miles thanks the lady forher "generous thoughtfulness for the soldiers in the Held", and requests that the New York chapter of the D.A.R. contribute hammocks to officers serving in Cuba ".. needful... to their health and comfort... for the use of General Guy V Henry's division..." Very good.
