Description:

[ Autographs ] NAPOLEON BONAPARTE Especially rare A.N.S. "Bonaparte" written at the head of a partly-printed document, 1p. legal folio, Paris, Jan. 16, 1800 and bearing a fine engraved letterhead a bearing revolutionary vignette. The letter is sent to Bonaparte by division general Carteaux who submits his report on an alleged injustice done the Cezare Brigade and Adjutant General Chorier. At the top, Napoleon writes in full (in French): "Forwarded to the Minister of War for registration. Bonaparte". Also endorsed and signed at bottom by the Secretary of War, LOUIS-ALEXANDRE BERTHIER. Light soiling, otherwise near fine with a large, bold endorsement and signature.
