CORSE (1816 - 1895) Confederate brigadier general who fought at First Bull Run and in the Seven Days,served under Pickett at Fredericksburg and at Gettysburg kept his brigade at Hanover Junction. Finally captured with Ewell at Saylers Creek. Rare war-date signed endorsement removed from a document, in full: "Hd. Qrs. Corse's Brig. Jany 12th 1863 Respectfully forwarded M.D. Corse Brig'r Genl. Comdg". Some staining at right with mounting strip, overall good to very good.
