Lot 1265
[ Autographs ] LOUIS XVI (1754 - 1793) King of France whose ambivalent policies cost him the support of Royalists and Revolutionaries, put under house arrest after his attempt to flee France, condemned by a tribunal for treason and guillotined with his wife Marie Antionette. D.S. "Louis" 1p. oblong 8vo., [n.p., n.d., but likely 1792], in French. In part: "...I propose to your Majesty to approve the services of Sr. Nicholas under the eyes of the National Assembly....". Boldly approved by Louis in his characteristically oversize hand. Additionally signed by the Minister of the Interior, JEAN-MARIE ROLAND (1734 - 1793). Very good.
