[ Autographs ] LEON TROTSKY (1879 - 1940) Russian Communist leader who with Lenin organized he Bolshevik October Revolution, defeated byStalin in their struggle for control of the government, banished and later assassinated in Mexico. A.E.S. in blue crayon across the face ofa letter from an Isvetsia correspondent sent by the senior editor at the newspaper to Trotsky, 1p. legal folio, Moscow, June 14, 1918, a damning report in which the reporter claims that war hero Admiral Sublin had stated that he "did not give a damn" about the government, adding "...I spit on Bolsheviks...". Trotsky writes across the top: "Call Sublin to obtain an explanation. Trotsky". Trimmed a bit at leftmargin catching one letter in endorsement, otherwise very good. What became of Sublin is unknown to us...
