[ Autographs ] Lawrence S. Ross 1838-1898 Confederate brigadier general who participated in 135 battles, covered Van Dorn's retreat from Corinth, and had five horses shot from under him. Good content A.L.S. on Texas Agriculture and Mechanical College letterhead, 3pp. 4to, College Station, Apr. 11, 1895 to Gen. Stoddard. In part: "... I saw Childress for a few minutes in regard to the cadets... will see about getting them placed on the same footing as the Troops ... Childress wanted to learn as soon as possible how many of the Old Confederates will go into camping for Childress... [also] of the number of delegates or visiting Confederates... Gordon and Culberson have taken quarters... Did not learn where Cabell will sleep... " Fine
