[ Autographs ] JULIUS ROBERT OPPENHEIMER (1904 - 1967) American physicist, director of the Manhattan project which developed the first atomic bomb, later served as director of the Institute of Advanced Study at Princeton. Scarce T.L.S. 1p. 8vo., Princeton, Sept. 6, 1963 to Norman Cousins, editor of the Saturday Review and reads in full: "Thank you for your warm note of September 4th. The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists is planning to publish the piece I sent you in its October issue, essentially as it is, and I imagine that that will preclude its appearing in the Saturday Review. I should, of course, beglad to see it there too." Very light toning at extreme top margin, otherwise very good to fine condition. Together with a T.L.S. of FRANKOPPENHEIMER, brother of J. Robert, 2pp. 4to., San Francisco, Oct. 23, 1968 concerning the book Lawrence and Oppenheimer. Two pieces.
