[ Autographs ] John Bradstreet 1711-1774 British colonial military officer who captured Fort Frontenac in 1758, breaking the French linebetween the St. Lawrence and Ohio rivers, and in 1764 led an army to suppress Pontiac's rebellion. Good content war-date A.L.S. 1p. sm. folio, Albany, Aug. 19, 1759 to Christopher Shelby. In part: "... Being directed by General Amherst to come this way and look into the state of the provisions and see what will be wanted to be forwarded to the several Garrisons upon Lake Ontario, Crown Point, & etc. and to inform you of it... I enclose you two calculations and am persuaded nothing will be wanted ....the full supply in time will be sent forward... ' Boldly written, with just a few chinks in right margin and two toned spots in left margin, both away from text. A fewneat archival fold reinforcements on blank verso.
