"James Buchanan" as Minister to London on official letterhead, 1p. large 8vo., London, Sep. 10, 1855.Buchanan pens a letter of introduction for a Mrs. Patterson of Philadelphia, in part: "...[she] is about to visit different portion of the United Kingdom...These ladies are members of the best families in Philadelphia & deservedly enjoy the highest social character in their own Country...I commend them to the kindness and attention of all those whom they may meet...[especially] consuls of the United States..."
