[ Autographs ] (HIROSHIMA) Interesting T.L.S. from the Mayor of Hiroshima SHINZO HAMAI, 1p. 4to., Hiroshima, Feb. 10, 1964 to CharlesDavis, president of the United World Federalists, in part: "...I have accepted the kind offer...to tell you what we, of Hiroshima, think about Mr. Norman Cousins on the occasion of your dinner program...I believe that I do not have to dwell on the Moral Adoption Program and the Hiroshima Maidens Project which Mr. Cousins initiated and carried out in great success for the people of Hiroshima, and by which he has most indelibly endeared himself to the hearts of our citizens... Besides his invaluable contributions to Hiroshima, we of Hiroshima admire even more his genuine devotion to a greater cause - his dedication to the cause of a permanent world peace through he establishment of a world federal government. Mr. Cousins was one who rightly interpreted the inexorable meaning of the tragedy of Hiroshima.." Light toning otherwise very good to fine condition.
