[ Autographs ] Henry Shaw Briggs 1824-1887 Union brigadier general severely wounded at Seven Pines. War date A.L.S. signed twice "Henry'and "H. S. Briggs' in address portion of letter, (n.p,, n.d. but certainly during the war]. Briggs writes a hurried but detailed letter in which he mentions that he will transfer twenty regiments to Frederick by rail, three regiments per day, all to be made available to Gen. George B. McClellan upon reaching Frederick. He characteizes the move as: '...a temporary but laborious responsibility when I am so poorly able to attend to it...' Trimmed at bottom, away from text,otherwise fine.
