After vainly requesting more help from a vacillating Hitler, he spoke despairingly of "a corporal's war". Laterserved as a delegate to the Bundestag (1953-7). T.L.S. 1p. 4to., Diessen, Jan. 9, 1972, in part: "...I sent yesterday three publications for the Olympic Games at Munich...I am invited...to give a lecture...at West Point!...I spoke to 160 resp. to 280 officers of the U.S. 1st Infantry division at Munich and Augsburg in their officer's club by invitation of the commanding general!..."
