[ Autographs ] (Fall Of Savannah) Fine A.L.S. 1p. 4to., Head Quarters Savannah, Dec. 19, 1864 Just days before the fall of Savannah, Major T. B. Roy, Hardee's Chief of Staff, writes Gen. Joseph Wheeler who was commanding cavalry forces making a desperate effort to forestall Sherman's capture of the city. Roy writes: "..Lieut. Gen. Hardee directs me to say he has sent you Ferguson & will try to send you more force before night...' Roy refers to Confederate brigadier general Ferguson whom he s ends to Wheeler in a last-ditch effort to save Savannah. Fine condition.
