ROMMEL (1891 - 1944) German field marshal whose Afrika Corps threw back repeated British and American assaults in North Africa; later he defended Normandy and ultimately was forced to commit suicide due to his implication in the Hitler bomb plot. War-date typed D.S. "Rommel" as "Generaloberst und Oberbefehlshaber der panzerarmee Afrika", 1p. 4to., North Africa, May 8, 1942, in German. Rommel awards military decorations to two soldiers serving under him for their service to the Reich. Signed in pencil, as always, file holes in left margin away from text, otherwise fine.
