[ Autographs ] EMMELINE SYLVIA PANKHURST (1858 - 1923) English suffragist and founder of the Women's Franchise League which secured,in 1894, for married women the right to vote. T.L.S. "E. Sylvia Pankhurst" on a sheet of the Germinal stationery, 1p. 8vo., London, Nov. 15, 1923, to Mr. Shipley in pencil thanking him for sending his poems. In part: "...Thank you very much for sending the poems. You told me that the New York Call had given a good review. I am very pleased to hear that and should like to see the review. I hope you will be able to give them a good notice of this issue and subsequent issues which will now come out regularly. I should be very glad if youwould become a regular contributor. I have several of your poems by mewhich I shall use in due course...". A slight chip to left margin, otherwise boldly signed in pencil and very good.E75-100
