Description:

[ Autographs ] ELBRIDGE GERRY (1744 - 1814) Signer of the Declarationof Independence and member of the Continental Congress who opposed ratification of the Constitution as drafted. A.D.S. "Mr. Gerry" in the text, 1p. 8vo., Cambridge, Aug. 27, 1793, in part: "...Mr. Gerry requests Mr. Robinson to send by the earliest opportunity half of the gross of the porter [beer] which was paid for last winter. The last was very indifferent & badly bottled, a sixth part was broken on its passage..." In rough shape, with a glue stain at top, fold repairs andmarginal dampstaining, yet still quite presentable.
